South College students, faculty and staff are generous givers to the Knoxville community.
The South College Community Service Club (SCCSC) worked the Keep Knoxville Beautiful booth at EarthFest. Keep Knoxville Beautiful Director Allison Teeters thanked SCCSC said it was the “most successful Earthfest event ever.”
The Student Affairs Advisory Committee (SAAC) gathered food and good used clothing for the Ladies of Charity Thrift Shop on Central Avenue. SAAC members David King and Lindsay Murr helped with the recent MEDIC blood drive in which faculty, staff and students donated 30 units of blood for local hospitals. It was the best MEDIC drive we’ve had.
The South College Department of Nursing got great experience and helped keep absenteeism down by helping administer 3,500 FluMist doses to Loudon County students.
Students also raised $460 in the Junior Achievement Rock N Bowl-A-Thon.
We also give a “Good Samaritan” Award each quarter to an individual student who helps others. These volunteer projects define the character of South College students.
